In many of the communities we serve, violence against women and children is unfortunately a common occurrence. Domestic violence and abuse of minors are prevalent issues that need to be addressed urgently. Furthermore, excessive alcohol consumption and alcoholism are major contributing factors to these problems. At JLC, we have implemented several initiatives aimed at preventing violence in these communities, including:
- Legal clinics: We provide legal aid and counseling to survivors of violence, helping them navigate the legal system and ensuring that their rights are protected.
- Health fairs: We organize health fairs to raise awareness about the physical and mental health consequences of violence, and provide medical services and referrals to survivors in need.
- Trainings: We conduct trainings on violence prevention, including bystander intervention, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
- Work tables for violence prevention: We establish community work tables where members can come together to discuss and address issues related to violence prevention.
- Family therapy: We provide counseling and therapy services to families affected by violence, working with them to build healthy relationships and address any underlying issues.
- Art and culture initiatives: We encourage the development and promotion of art and cultural activities as a way to diversify community activities and provide healthy distractions for individuals at risk of engaging in violent behavior.
- Access points for reporting violence: We establish accessible reporting mechanisms for individuals to report incidents of violence and seek support and assistance.
Through these initiatives, we aim to create safer and more supportive environments for all members of the community, especially those who are most vulnerable to violence. We will continue to work towards preventing violence and promoting healthy relationships in the communities we serve.
